Summary

This spectacular country house which was built in 1825 has been tastefully restored by its current owners. You'll be seduced by its rural Sicilian charm and be able to enjoy it while immersed in natural surroundings. The property has lots to offer but perhaps the most striking is the view of the baroque town of Scicli, a UNESCO World Heritage site, from the fantastic infinity pool. The house, which is built on the hill overlooking the nearby town is well-equipped for your comfort and elegantly furnished with great attention to detail. There are also several pieces of contemporary art displayed in the house. The large Spa area, located underneath the house where the water tanks were once placed, has a wonderful hydro massage tub with chromotherapy and a small Swedish sauna. At night the atmosphere is magical whether you be outside when the town is lit up, or inside the spacious living room, with a ceiling that opens up under the starry sky of Scicli!

Property details

This 3-hectare property farms olive and carob trees. The driveway leads to the first part of the house with its marvellous kitchen where you'll be able to enjoy lazy meals around the table for 8. The open-plan spacious living room with an electric roof that opens up at the press of a button is next to the kitchen. The TV with sofas and armchairs, a dining area with a large round table and another two couches are all in the living room for your comfort. From the living room, a staircase leads downstairs to the Spa area with its large spa bath, comfortable lounge area and a wooden sauna with shower and handbasin. The living room also leads to an external courtyard and the second building with its three bedrooms, ensuite bathrooms and small living room. You can relax in the comfortable outdoor furniture in the courtyard or head down the hill to the infinity pool with its breathtaking view of the baroque town of Scicli. Not far from the pool, there is a wooden outbuilding with another bedroom with ensuite bathroom as well as a laundry building. An extra single bed can be added to any of the four suites if required.

The property is ideally positioned to visit the beautiful baroque town of Scicli and to discover its immense cultural, monumental and culinary treasures! The house is only 2 kilometres from the town and very close to the sandy beach of Donnalucata (Playa Grande) which is just a 10-minutes drive away. From Scicli you can visit all the baroque towns of Valle di Noto; the appointed UNESCO World Heritage sites, such as Noto, Modica, Ispica, Ragusa Ibla and Palazzolo Acreide are all worth seeing and you can't miss Vendicari, Cavagrande del Cassibile and the archaeological park Pantalica. The nearby Donnafugata Castle, the seaside villages of Marzamemi, Porto Palo di Capopassero and Punta Secca (famous for the TV series Montalbano) are to be seen too if you can fit them all in. Many beautiful beaches are in the area, such as the one in the Irminio River Reserve, San Lorenzo in Marzamemi, Cala Mosche in Vendicari, Torre Ulisse in Pozzallo, just to mention a few. For golf lovers, the 18-hole Donnafugata Golf Resort is ideal. You might feel like doing a day trip to Siracusa where you can see the archaeological park and Ortigia. We highly recommend the famous restaurants of the baroque towns on your tours as this area is the capital of Sicilian cuisine.
