Modica

This perfectly proportioned little gem of a house overlooks the glorious baroque town of Modica and is just a stone's throw from the San Giorgio Cathedral.

We all deserve to live in spaces that calm, nourish and nurture our senses so if you are looking for a base from where to visit the exuberantly baroque Modica, then this is a great option. The house is just a short walk from the San Giorgio cathedral and the views of the historical centre's rooftops are simply stunning.

Property details

This majestic little house that was originally part of a 19th century grand palace is now a glamorous getaway for up to 4 people. The cobbled approach lane arrives at an elegant arched entrance covered in perfumed jasmine which leads onto the terrace that is the perfect spot in which to gather for a meal or a drink. The interior of the house consists of a smart living room with a fold-out couch where the warm colours and interesting artwork combine to create an ambience that will put you immediately at ease. Off here lies the double bedroom which also connects to the terrace and boasts breathtaking views of Modica. The sunny kitchen is typically Sicilian and pottery pieces adorn the walls. There is one bathroom with a spacious shower and a laundry room as well.

Modica

The town of Modica, which is a UNESCO World heritage site, is considered the symbol of Sicilian baroque. Modica however, has much more to offer than its famous Baroque palaces with their intricate facades, monuments and spectacular churches. It's a unique place-a noble, un-hurried yet vibrant town that the traveller can't help falling in love with. It's a visual treat and its narrow alleys are a hub of activity with night clubs and famous restaurants. It's also a paradise for chocolate devotees which is still produced here in the same way as the ancient Aztecs made it in the 16th century. Modica is ideally located in the middle of the Noto Valley, so it’s an ideal base for visiting the other Baroque cities of Noto, Ispica, Ragusa Ibla and Scicli. You can’t miss a trip to the nature reserves of Vendicari nature reserve where there are some wonderful beaches and the lakes of Cavagrande. A trip to this part of the island wouldn't be complete without seeing the naturalist-archaeological site of Pantalica and the surrounding unspoilt beaches of this stretch of the South-Eastern Sicilian coast.
