Modica

Great atmosphere in this apartment located in the heart of the baroque town of Modica. Spectacular views over the town, unforgettable sunsets, romantic atmosphere. Ideal for young couples.

If you are planning to head to Sicily's most southern border be prepared for a body and soul experience. The area attracts many fine artists who come to this lovely place in search of creative inspiration. Situated in the heart of the Noto Valley, Modica is a baroque city built round a junction of steep valleys and has been declared a patrimony of UNESCO. The town with its dramatic landscape has both a rich cultural background and a colourful history of various civilizations which is very much seen and felt in the present. Today, more than ever, Modica lies at the crossroads of different races and cultures. Anime a Sud ("Souls to the south") is a window overlooking this world where you will feel between the present and past.

Property details

This gem of a house occupies a panoramic position in Modica's historical city centre and the detailed restoration has created a neat little double-level getaway with modern amenities. On the ground floor there is a large, sunny and light living area with a corner kitchen, a double bedroom with bathroom and a balcony that's big enough to have your breakfast on. A staircase from the living room leads up to a loft area where there's a double bedroom, bathroom and a relaxation and reading area and a great terrace. Though there is a standard sofa bed for two people in the living room, it is worth noting that if it is left open during the day, the room does become slightly over-crowded.

Modica

The town of Modica, which is a UNESCO World heritage site, is considered the symbol of Sicilian baroque. Modica however, has much more to offer than its famous Baroque palaces with their intricate facades, monuments and spectacular churches. It's a unique place-a noble, un-hurried yet vibrant town that the traveller can't help falling in love with. It's a visual treat and its narrow alleys are a hub of activity with night clubs and famous restaurants. It's also a paradise for chocolate devotees which is still produced here in the same way as the ancient Aztecs made it in the 16th century. Modica is ideally located in the middle of the Noto Valley, so it’s an ideal base for visiting the other Baroque cities of Noto, Ispica, Ragusa Ibla and Scicli. You can’t miss a trip to the nature reserves of Vendicari nature reserve where there are some wonderful beaches and the lakes of Cavagrande. A trip to this part of the island wouldn't be complete without seeing the naturalist-archaeological site of Pantalica and the surrounding unspoilt beaches of this stretch of the South-Eastern Sicilian coast.
