Overview
If it weren't for the fact that it doesn't move, you could safely say that you feel like you're in a boat, especially when you look out the living room windows. This small cottage is perched on the rocks and partially obtained from them, the rooms are almost on the water surface. We are in front of the mythical stacks of Cefalù in the Kaldura district, one of the most evocative corners of Sicily, a strip of land with two beaches and several small coves, the ideal vacation spot for those who want to be in contact with the sea and with the surrounding nature.
Property details
This small cottage, almost entirely carved into the rock, is divided into two units connected by a narrow external stone staircase. In the upper unit there is the sleeping area consisting of two bedrooms with independent external access and connected internally by a corridor, which leads to the small bathroom with shower carved entirely into the rock. Outside there is a spectacular terrace overlooking the sea, the stacks and the beach below. A secondary staircase leads to the beach passing through an opening in the neighbouring property. This access could be forbidden for a couple of weeks a year (generally in August) during the stay of the owners of the neighbouring villa. However, the beach is also accessible from a small gate located on the access road about 10 metres from the house. The other unit that is located below is composed of a large loft with a kitchenette, living room with 3 sofas and a fireplace with a large window overlooking the sea and a small bathroom with shower which is accessed from the outside. If necessary, the sofas can be used as beds: the large sofa as a double bed and the two sofas as single beds of standard size. However, given the nature of the beds and their location, they are recommended for children or teenagers. The equipment and services of the house are of standard quality and not of value since the philosophy of the house is to live in the place and the surrounding nature. To reach the cottage there are stone stairs with numerous steps therefore not suitable for people with reduced mobility.
Additional information
This is a cottage that by its nature, and its position on the rocks emerging from the sea, is subject to very fast wear of the materials; despite the continuous winter maintenance, it may not meet some standard requirements adequate to the costs of the residence. However, the house is still in great demand as its position makes it exclusive and justifies the cost paid. Those who choose it are aware that they have preferred it for this peculiar characteristic. The photos published fully reflect the current state of the materials and equipment.
The municipality may require the payment of the daily tourist tax for all guests aged 12 and over. The amount, which may vary according to the season and the location, must be paid in cash to the reception manager upon arrival.
