Cefalù

Located right by the sea with fantastic views of the sea and Cefalu’s Cathedral beyond. Enchanting atmosphere. Private access to a small beach. Suitable for couples and families with kids.

The approach road leads to a rather handsome looking house but nothing can prepare you for what lies within. As you turn the corner into the garden you'll realise you have stumbled upon a gem. The panorama of the emerald sea all the way to the headland of Cefalu with its magnificent golden Arabian-style cathedral and a clear blue sky as a backdrop is truly stunning. Only then will you fully appreciate just how clever and fortunate you've been to have chosen this particular house and you'll realize that your holiday is going to be a truly memorable one.

Property details

The position of this house is like no other – perched atop a hill with a bird's eye view of the breezy sea that is simply stunning. The area is elegant and peaceful and there's a luxuriant Mediterranean garden too! A private stone stairway leads down to a small beach with exceptionally safe swimming and flat rocks which are ideal for soaking up the sun or for plunging into the sea. Your private little cove is accessible only by boat so it definitely won't be overrun with beachgoers. The main beach of Mazzoforno can be reached by climbing over the rocks or simply walking along the road from the house. The single-level house is modern and comfortable with a sunny, typically Sicilian kitchen opening onto a patio and the garden. There's a spacious, cheerful living room with fireplace and dining area and two large glorious windows letting in the sea view and the town of Cefalu in the distance. On the same floor there are two double bedrooms, a bedroom with a single bed and two bathrooms. The outbuilding, where there's a double bedroom and bathroom, can be accessed via some steps in the garden. In the basement there is a laundry. Outside in the patio there's a dining table and comfy outdoor furniture. On the edge of the lawn by the gate to the beach is another outdoor alfresco area scattered with lounges and armchairs and for the idle, a hammock in the shade of the trees.

Surrounding Area

Cefalù

Cefalù is a picturesque, historical town on a rocky headland and has become hugely popular with tourists from all over the world. Overlooking one of the most scenic strips of Sicilian coastline, this little town with its unpretentious charm has something for everyone. Its narrow streets are lined with eateries and restaurants of every kind and if it's fish you are after, you'll certainly find it here. Cefalu has some grandeur in its past too-it was important enough for one of Sicily's Norman rulers to build a glorious Cathedral here. The town is also the doorway to the Madonie which is the most important Nature Park in Sicily with its noble, un-hurried, medieval villages that are full of surprises too. We highly recommend excursions to Castelbuono, Gratteri, Polizzi Generosa and Petralia Soprana and Sottana. To the west of Cefalu lies the city of Palermo – the true cradle of ancient Sicilian culture – which is a short hour's drive away. To the east, the ancient Greek colony of Tindari. On the way to Tindari there are loads of isolated beaches with crystalline clear waters in case you should feel like cooling off.
