Scopello

A charming old country house that has been converted into a pleasant seaside getaway. Just 800mts from the beach of Guidaloca. Ideal for families.

The former county house has been restored and made more sympathetic to modern needs while maintaining its Sicilian atmosphere. The property occupies an extremely desirable position just a stones throw from the coast in the enchanting countryside very close to the well-known "Guidaloca" beach at Scopello so hiking or biking to the beach is a breeze. Otherwise just nod off by the pool immersed in lawned garden or relax in a shady corner while enjoying the spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.

Property details

An extensive lawned garden surrounds the house ensuring peace and privacy and a double wooden porch stands by the pool where there's a barbecue, outdoor cooking facilities and a table and benches for 10 making it the ideal place in which to gather. For sun-seekers the pool is decked out with comfy loungers if you don't feel like heading to the beach. The house has an open plan kitchen, dining and living area featuring eye-catching Sicilian ceramics and sea colours and fabulous glass doors connecting onto the garden and pool. Above the living room there is a loft with 2 double bedrooms where exposed brick work makes its mark, 2 bathrooms, a small laundry and storage space as well. Two extra single beds can also be accomodated in this section of the house upon request. In the garden, another building with private access houses 2 more double bedrooms each with ensuite bathroom.

Surrounding Area

Scopello

The nearby Zingaro Reserve (2,5 km away) is a nature reserve that stretches along the north-west coast of Sicily, all the way from Scopello to San Vito lo Capo. The reserve is home to numerous species of flora and fauna creating the ideal backdrop for the rugged shoreline where there are inlets and beaches as lovely as you can find anywhere. The reserve attacts both walkers and bathers and the bays and inlets can be reached along trails that shoot off the main track. At the entrance of the reserve there's a car park and an information centre that distributes maps and sells the admission tickets. Within the reserve itself there are two museums and some rest stops. The hamlet of Scopello is also well-known for the nearby Tonnara (a stunning tuna fishery village that has been the set for a number of films), where the inviting waters are ideal for swimming. There's lots to do in the surrounding area starting from the Baglio di Scopello with its bars and restaurants. We recommend day trips to the archeological parks of Selinunte and Segesta, the medieval town of Erice and the Stagnone Reserve in Marsala. The buzzing city of Palermo is not to be missed and it's just an easy one-hour's drive away. Also of interest are the hugely popular nearby Aegadian Islands. For wine enthusiasts-there are numerous wineries to be visited too (some with excellent restaurants).
