A glimpse of the class and elegance of ancient Sicily, an ancient wine press magnificently restored, a secret garden in the Mythical Val di Noto.

This ancient and characteristic Sicilian “Wine press” is composed by stone tanks dating back to the 19th century. The house has been restored in a conservative manner to enhance the architecture and the typical features of the stone constructions of that period. The roofs have also been preserved as in origin, in reeds and plaster, the ancient tanks have been preserved and made visible with thick walkable glass and contribute, together with the other constructive features, to making the atmosphere of this house unique and delightful. Outdoors, the wine press is surrounded by a lush garden and a refreshing swimming pool.

Property details

A large and well-kept garden surrounds the house with different shaded corners featuring large trees, including century-old olive trees. At the centre of the garden there is a swimming pool surrounded by a large solarium with sunbeds. Outside, there is a small covered patio swimming pool side and another very large patio furnished with table, chairs, barbecue and outdoor furnishings. Indoors, on the ground floor, there is a living-dining room with open kitchen, a bathroom for guests and a laundry room. On the first floor, there are two spacious bedrooms, a double room and a twin room that can become a double room, both with ensuite bathroom.
This property is next to the "1893 La Torre" property. They can be rented together by the same group for a maximum of 16 guests.

Scicli

From the house you can visit the beautiful baroque town of Scicli and discover its immense cultural, monumental and culinary treasures! The house is only 2 kilometres from the town centre and just a 10-minute drive to the sandy beach of Donnalucata (Playa Grande). From Scicli you can visit all the baroque towns of Valle di Noto. The UNESCO towns Noto, Modica, Ispica, Ragusa Ibla and Palazzolo Acreide are all within easy reach. The nature reserves of Vendicari and Cavagrande del Cassibile as well as the rocky Necropolis of Pantalica are all nearby too. The Donnafugata Castle, the seaside village of Marzamemi, Porto Palo di Capopassero and Punta Secca are all worth seeing too. No shortage of beaches either. Sunlovers are sure to love the one in the Irminio River Reserve, San Lorenzo in Marzamemi, Cala Mosche in Vendicari, Torre Ulisse in Pozzallo, to name just a few. The Donnafugata Golf Resort with its 18-hole course is also handy. Siracusa is a bit further afield but makes for an enjoyable day trip. If you do decide to go, it's well-worth visiting the archaeological park with its Greek Theatre and Ortigia. We highly recommend you trying the famous restaurants of the baroque towns while touring about the capitals of Sicilian cuisine.
