"Montalbano I am!" - Punta Secca and the Commissioner's house

Punta Secca is a small fishing village located about 6 km west from Marina di Ragusa and which, with its very numerous 519 inhabitants, constitutes a fraction of Santa Croce di Camerina located in the wonderful province of Ragusa.
Apart from the local attractions which we will discuss shortly, the village is an excellent starting point for exploring the more than splendid south-eastern Sicily which, not surprisingly, is loved by millions of tourists on national and international soil.
Not to be missed are the Donnafugata Castle, the UNESCO-listed Sicilian Baroque cities of Noto, Modica, Scicli, Ragusa Ibla and Ispica.
The Cavagrande del Cassibile and Vendicari reserves, the Raganzino beach in Pozzallo (blue flag 2022), the Ispica quarries and much more are also easy to reach.
Naturally, one of the best known places in our Sicily is Punta Secca which owes its fame to the TV series based on the novels of Andrea Camilleri "The Commissioner Montalbano".
On the right handside of the square of this village stands the famous "Montalbano's House ”: historic building, originally used as a warehouse for the desalination of sardines, sold in 1904 to the ancestors of the current owner and transformed into a home.
As well as other places in Ragusa where the novels of the famous writer are set, Montalbano has certainly revived the economy and tourism of this delightful hamlet of Santa Croce di Camerina called by the locals "A Sicca" (the shallows) due to the presence of the cliff in front of the east beach.
And speaking of beaches, two are the most popular of the place: one known as "beach of the lighthouse" due to the presence of the nineteenth-century lighthouse 35 m more and still functioning, and the other known as (hear, hear) "beach of Montalbano” as there is the house of the fictional Commissioner.
