An alternative way to visit the Etna Valley and admire the highest Volcano in Europe is to get on board the Circumetnea train which has been travelling around the volcano for almost 130 years and continues to do so at a moderate pace. Escape for 3 hours from the daily routine and admire landscapes of immeasurable charm and poignant beauty, where the view sweeps across green hills and landscapes of lava with an almost lunar appearance embraced by the ancestral sounds that evoke age-old memories. A magical route, surrounded by the unique beauty of this UNESCO heritage site: vineyards, olive and hazelnut groves, ancient lava flows and glimpses of small historical villages in addition to admiring his majesty, Etna. On the slopes of the volcano and in the immediate vicinity you have several luxury villas to choose from, in which to admire this fascinating part of Sicily.

The Circumetnea Railway departs from Catania in the historical via Caronda, in the high part of via Etnea, which is home to the main station of the Circumetnea Railway called “Catania Borgo”. On the entry to this station, you can admire the old steam locomotive n. 14, in dialect known as “Meusa”, the same that accompanied Edmondo De Amicis on his journey in the early 20th century.
