Giromini Marc

Lieu magnifique. Marc August 2016

We had a wonderful holiday at Villa Agave. The owners Salvatore and Josie, met us on arrival and were charming and helpful. They had been shopping for provisions, which we had requested and the fridge was full of lovely Italian delicacies. They did not speak any English but we managed to communicate easily enough... The villa is in an amazing location - on a quiet small residential development, but overlooking the sea. The views are incredible! The beach, only a few metres from the villa, is sandy, with clear water which is not too deep for small children. The beach is also very quiet and much nicer than the beaches we saw in the north of the island The villa is well equipped and comfortable. The fans in the bedrooms are very effective eon warm nights. Excellent local restaurants including Vittorios for fish and La Foresteria for a more gourmet experience We think this is an excellent, unspoilt area to stay and explore Western Sicily. Highly recommended! June 2016

Property details

The best things about this property are undoubtedly its garden with direct access to the beach and the stunning views of the sparkling Mediterranean sea. The view from every corner is priceless and you will be lulled to sleep at night by the gentle sound of the waves. The garden is dotted with Mediterranean shrubs and climbers such as bouganvillea, oleander and palm trees and there are plenty of outdoor spots to relax in and enjoy the fresh air, the view or a meal. The decor of the villa is typical of Sicilian beach houses featuring lots of blue and orange. On the ground floor there is a large living room with built-in sofa benches, a fireplace with extra sofa for two, a dining area, a kitchen area, a laundry room and a bathroom. Outside, just off the kitchen is a dining table and behind the house is a fully-equipped covered kitchen area. A staircase leads to the first floor where there are 3 bedrooms in total and 2 bathrooms. The double bedroom has a glorious window letting in a spectacular view of the entire gulf, a twin room and a bedroom with bunk beds can also be found on this floor as well as a terrace.

The house is located in the heart of the River Belice nature reserve on the beach of Portopalo-nine times winner of the prestigious Blue Flag award for cleanliness and amenities from an environmental group. Apart from the many things to do and see in the local area there are loads of other places to be explored in the vicinity. You'll enjoy excursions to the archeological park of Selinunte, the historical wineries at Marsala, the salt pans in Trapani and the Valley of the Temples at Agrigento. Sunseekers will love the beaches at Scala dei Turchi and Torre Salsa too. Why not feast at the local restaurants if you don't feel like cooking. We highly recommend a seafood meal at the award-winning "Vittorio" on the beach or "Il Vigneto". There are boat trips departing from Portopalo too!
