The Andromeda Theater created by the shepherd and artist Lorenzo Reina was born among the Sicani mountains that take their name from the people who first lived in Sicily, in the Agrigento area of Santo Stefano di Quisquina. Located almost 1000 m high, this real piece of art will give you an unprecedented view of the sea, the mountains and even the island of Pantelleria. It is no coincidence that it is defined as the highest stone theater in the world, a place for various artistic events and very suggestive theatrical performances.

The work, which was created in a panoramic area of the city, is composed of a circular stage and seats made up of stone blocks that represent both in number (108) and in the arrangement the stars of the Andromeda constellation from which it takes its name. The stone wall that surrounds the theater ends on two columns to form a sort of panoramic window. There are several monuments granted by different artists and which enrich the theater. The Dying Icarus by Giuseppe Agnello will surely attract your gaze as well as the Imagus of the word from whose mouth a ray of sunshine passes through at sunset.

From the main entrance door, you will enter as in another dimension. To paraphrase the artist's words: you will listen to the silence, you will sit on a star looking at the Earth because this is not a theater, but a spaceship that is traveling to the Andromeda Galaxy.

Lorenzo Reina is part of a family of shepherds and, as usual, has always carried on the work inherited from his father. But he has always felt his artistic vein throbbing incessantly: if during the day he grazed the sheep on the mountains, at night he carved alabaster in a stable among fabrics dipped in fuel oil and dust.
And it was precisely on a day in 1970 that he had the idea: while he was leading the sheep to pasture on the threshold of the sunset he noticed that they were ruminating in peace and looking at them they seemed still and motionless as stone. This image (for him at the same time suggestive and spiritual) and the knowledge acquired that the Galaxy M31 of the Andromeda constellation will collide with our Galaxy in about four and a half billion years, inspired him what today after 30 years of work we call the Andromeda Theater.
