One of the most suggestive experiences that can be done in Sicily, between the breathtaking view and the combination of colours and scents that this part of the island can offer, is the historic pier for Mozia and the adjacent saltworks of the Stagnone of Marsala. Not to mention the Lagoon of the Stagnone itself, a natural reserve with ancient roots located at the western end of Sicily, between Marsala and Trapani, a destination for international tourism. And if that's not enough, the location undoubtedly offers an excellent starting point to explore several beautiful places in this part of the island: the historic wineries that still produce the famous Marsala fortified wine, the salt pans of Trapani, Trapani itself, the medieval village of Erice and why not? The fantastic Zingaro Nature Reserve for holidays dedicated to the sea, nature, peace and discovery.

The Stagnone Islands take their name from the homonymous lagoon, the largest in Sicily, which is characterized by shallow waters (1 or 2 metres) and is located between the four islands of San Pantaleo (Mozia), Isola Grande, Schola and Santa Maria which are part of the Egadi archipelago. These are included in the "Isole dello Stagnone di Marsala" nature reserve. The archipelago of the Stagnone islands covers an area of 2000 hectares and extends from Punta San Teodoro and Capo Lilibeo. The Reserve includes the entire lagoon delimited by the open sea of Isola Grande with the other three islets inside it, including the most important Mozia. It is here that the very famous salt pans rise, still active and functioning today and which can be visited as well as the imposing and ancient windmills that are used for pumping water and grinding salt. This Reserve, one of the oldest to be established (1984), is characterized by clear waters, shallow waters, uncontaminated nature, strips of land rich in history and archaeological remains, of the most varied flora and fauna.

And how can we not mention the landing stage for Mozia? The Arini e Pugliese tourist consortium, thanks to the Tanit motor ship, makes the connection with Mozia and the tour of the Stagnone. The cost of the ferry is around 5 euros (round trip) for adults and 2.50 euros for children. In addition, access to the island requires a not so expensive ticket of 9 euros. But the adventures do not end here because in the coastal area there are several windsurfing, kitesurfing and canoeing schools that attract a lot of youth sports tourism up to fishing tourism in the waters of the Stagnone. And to relax on these days full of excitement, book one of our luxury villas in the surrounding area to enjoy a great rest immersed in their cool private pools.
