Fabulous Sicilian aristocratic property, spectacular views of mount Etna, Mediterranean gardens surrounded by organic citrus groves. Inviting lava rock swimming pool. Suitable for families and groups.

The thrill of the past and the allure of aristocratic Sicilian life at the beginning of the twentieth century can still be felt within the walls of this handsome house. The baroque façade evokes the splendour and opulence of Sicilian high society, whose members spent lots of time in their country houses managing the profits that the rich Sicilian soils provided for them. Nowadays, this smallholding is dedicated to organic farming and cultivates citrus fruit and olives. A glamorous getaway where you will delight in the magnificent and unique views from the terraces, of Europe's second highest volcano-Mt Etna. On a clear day you will feel you could reach out and touch it!

Property details

This aristocratic Sicilian house has been restored with great care to preserve its original spirit and the splendour of its past. The intensely green, extensive garden and the uninterrupted views of Mount Etna to one side and the village of Centuripe perched on the hill to the other, will leave you in awe. The property boasts a fabulous mosaic swimming pool and a deck area with lava rock finishings and at the front of the villa are two super terraces where the Sicilian nobility once welcomed their guests. You'll be impressed by the interior of the house with its charming connecting rooms which creates a gracious and logical flow-a common feature of many antique Sicilian houses. The main entrance leads to a spacious living room with fireplace, sofas and TV. Off here lies a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom and a disabled friendly bathroom. To the other side of the living room is a reading room as well as two more double bedrooms and a bathroom. One of these bedrooms has an elevated king sized bed. On the other side of the living room is the dining room, another bathroom as well as two more bedrooms, one with ensuite bathroom. The larger bedroom accesses the garden and the old Stables which have been converted into a kitchen with a table for 12 as well as a cellar. An additional single bed can be added to two of the five bedrooms so the house can host up to 14 people. Air-conditioned throughout and each room has a satellite Sky TV. All the double bedrooms can convert into twin rooms.

Surrounding Area

The property is located just a few kilometres from Sicily's second largest city Catania but slightly off the usual tourist track, so ideal for those seeking seclusion and a glimpse of Sicily's soul. The residence is fit for a king and you'll be talking about the majestic atmosphere of the ambience and the surrounds for years to come. Peace and tranquility reign supreme and the views are simply divine. The Mount Etna Park, as well as the less known but equally charming Nebrodi Mountains Natural Park are only a few kilometres away from the property. Catania (with its fascinating historical centre) and the eastern coast can be easily reached by car in about half an hour. To the north, you can visit Taormina and to the south Syracuse and Ortigia, as well as the various beaches in the neighbourhood. A visit to the area wouldn't be complete without seeing Villa Romana del Casale in Piazza Armerina and Caltagirone which are both slightly inland but easy day-trips.
