Sicily is a region rich in history and legends, it is a country where the trend towards modernity is intertwined with an atavistic nostalgia for the past. Its places have been known and loved by hundreds and hundreds of tourists at a national and international level who have decided to make our beloved island a stop on their journey of discovery and in search of different experiences.

Sicily is also an entity that still jealously hides enchanting places, hidden landscapes and secrets from mass tourism in which nature is still the main protagonist. But our land is and has always been, on the other hand, open to the different cultures that have populated it and still populate it; Sicily is unconditionally inclined to welcome the different trends that colour the world: in this regard, today we want to tell you about the splendid town of Graniti that many have defined as the Los Angeles of Sicily.

This is a small town in the province of Messina which has just under 1,500 inhabitants.
Its origins date back to around the year 1000 and it is located in the north-eastern part of Sicily, at the beginning of the Peloritani mountains, at an altitude of 350 meters above sea level.
The landscape is crossed by the Alcantara river and is located between Giardini Naxos and the Alcantara Valley: the town of Graniti is undoubtedly a small jewel that has acquired even more value since 2017 thanks to a redevelopment project carried out by Art Project Graniti and Graniti Murales, under the artistic direction of the Hawaiian artist Richard Ralya.

The idea came from the Granitese-Swiss entrepreneur Salvatore Romano and his wife, Karin Maier, with the aim of creating culture and giving new life to the town through new tourist flows and art.
To date there are about forty murals that have been created by artists from all over the world.

From the province of Messina, as part of the itinerary of your trip to eastern Sicily, you can visit the most interesting places in the area such as Taormina, which has always fascinated artists and intellectuals, the nearby seaside destinations of Mazzarò Bay, Capo Sant’Andrea, Isola Bella and Giardini di Naxos. And again, destinations such as the Etna Park, the Alcantara Gorges, the Nebrodi Mountains, Caltagirone and its ceramics.
And if you feel tired after this adventurous day, you can always stay in one of our fantastic private villas with pools in the area.
