In the Peninsula, there are several places of interest including the Cave of the Pillirina. The legend tells of a wealthy girl who was in love with a sailor but their love was opposed by her family. The two met in secret in this cave on full moon nights. One night the sea was too rough and the sailor was unable to reach his beloved, his boat was carried adrift.

The girl waited for days in vain and, destroyed by pain, decided to abandon herself to the waters of the sea. Since then, sailors have said that on full moon nights you can still see the silhouette of a young woman who is still waiting for her lover.
