Those travelling to Sicily almost necessarily include stops that have the sea as their protagonist in their itinerary. On the other hand, ours is a wonderful island kissed by the sun at least 300 days a year and bathed by three seas: the Tyrrhenian, the Ionian and the Mediterranean. The beaches are numerous and of the most disparate conformations: from beaches of fine golden sand to white sand beaches to bathing areas full of rocks and platforms. Not to mention our splendid and uncontaminated reserves such as that of the Zingaro and that of Plemmirio. A real paradise for sea lovers and snorkelling fanatics: there is a beach suitable for everyone, from adults to children.

This means that some of the most renowned seaside areas, from north to south, from east to west, are particularly populated during the hottest and most touristic months. But, fear not, for all those who love a little more tranquillity and privacy, all is not lost! Sicily is also full of surprises and quiet and secluded corners and today we really want to tell you about one of the most wonderful and pristine beaches in Sicily: the Solette, not too far from Porto Palo.

The beach is of such disarming beauty that it deserved a mention by the Daily Telegraph, a British newspaper published in London and distributed throughout the United Kingdom and internationally. The article opens with the following words: “Sicily is blessed with endless glorious beaches both sandy and rocky, and with spectacular water of unimaginable blues.” followed by the introduction of Le Solette, and who can blame them?

This corner of paradise is located not even a kilometre from Porto Palo and, from a geographical point of view, is included in the territory of Menfi. Reaching it is not at all difficult. For those coming from Menfi, they will simply have to follow the signs for Porto Palo and then continue towards the Villa Maddalena farmhouse. For those coming from Castelvetrano, they will have to continue towards the Hotel Paradise and then follow the signs for Menfi. Alternatively, trekking by sea is a viable and suggestive option.

The flora and fauna present are among the most diverse: before your eyes you will find an environment on the one hand psammophile typical of the dunes (bodies, aquatic or terrestrial, which show particular preferences and adaptations for life inside and on the surface of the sand wet by water) and on the other rich in reeds and rushes typical of environments with waterways. The rocky bottoms are rich in various kinds of molluscs and in the valley you can meet hares, weasels, hedgehogs, foxes and many types of birds that find their nesting habitat.

As already written, a real corner of pristine paradise where man and nature live in harmony and mutual respect. A simple glance will be enough to make you fall madly in love with this all-Sicilian glimpse of the sea.
